Shaun Alexander of the Seattle Seahawks set an NFL single-season record with his 28th touchdown on Sunday.
Alexander scored on a one-yard run around left end with 13 minutes left in the second quarter to give the Seahawks a 7-6 lead over the Green Bay Packers and eclipse Priest Holmes' record of 27 touchdowns in 2003 for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Of Alexander's 28 touchdowns, 27 have come on the ground.
Last week, Alexander scored three touchdowns in a 28-13 win over Indianapolis to tie Holmes' record.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Alexander entered the day with a career-high 1,807 rushing yards, 53 yards behinsd Tiki Barber of the New York Giants for the rushing title. Last season, Alexander finished one yard behind Curtis Martin of the New York Jets for the rushing title.
